Qatar Steel participates in UK Career Fair


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Steel participated in the 8th Annual Career Fair, held in the UK recently, and organised by Qatar Embassy in London. A number of Qatari companies took part in this fair, which was attended by over 350 Qatari students studying in different universities and colleges in the UK.

The two-day event aimed to attract ambitious and high performing Qatari students and graduates, who are pursuing their studies in the UK, and familiarise them with the job opportunities available after graduation, in addition to the scholarships and training programs offered by the companies to potential students.

Qatar Steel's delegation, from HR and Learning and Development dept. met many national students, briefed them about the company, and introduced them to the various career opportunities available in different departments.

Mohamed Saleh Al Mahdi, Qatar Steel's HR manager declared that the number of the job applications received was 102, and that working contracts were signed with 7 national students. While 75 students who applied for scholarship programs have to complete the required procedure, prior to finalising the agreement with them at a later stage.

"Qatar Steel's participation in the career fair in the UK comes in line with the company's Qatarisation strategy, aiming at attracting the talented nationals, taking part in various career fairs and forums, in order to introduce our job opportunities, training and scholarship programs. Our company is also keen to boost the career potentials of its employees through giving them the right and on job training and development courses, as required in their various careers and disciplines." Al Mahdi added.

The career fair is considered as a platform for Qatari companies to introduce their job opportunities; scholarships and internship programs that they can offer to students, to meet the job market requirements through recruiting talented national manpower. The event is also a good opportunity for the national companies to communicate with Qatari students, who are studying abroad, encourage the most potential and capable ones to work with them, or to avail themselves of the prospective scholarship programs they offer.
