(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors) Toronto's main market was steady as gains among healthcare companies offset weakness in commodity producers. 

In corporate activity Oncolytics Biotech (TSE:ONC) advanced 33 percent to $1.20 after saying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted Orphan Drug designation for its lead product candidate Reolysin for treatment of cancer of the fallopian tube.

Transition Therapeutics (TSE:TTH) rose 1.3 percent to C$8.71 after saying it has completed enrolment of the Phase 2 clinical study evaluating neuropsychiatric drug candidate ELND005 as a treatment for agitation and aggression in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Endo International (TSE:ENL) (NASDAQ:ENDP) a special health care company said today that it has agreed to sell its men’s health and prostate businesses to Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) for $1.6 billion in a bid to streamline and focus instead on its core pharmaceuticals business. Shares added 2.2 percent to C$108.98 in Toronto.

Canelson Drilling (TSE:CDI) a provider of oilfield services fell 1 percent to C$4.00 after reporting nearly flat results in the fourth quarter.

Tethys Petroleum (TSE:TPL) (LON:TPL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with PetroChina International another key step toward selling gas into the growing Chinese market. The news came as the  Central Asia-focused oil and gas producer provided a corporate update for shareholders reiterating its new strategy of focusing on capital discipline and the generation of cash flow from existing reserves and maturing exploration property. Shares advanced almost 3 percent.

Eldorado Gold (TSE:ELD) the producer with mines in China and Greece sank 5.7 percent to C$6.80 after saying its Greek subsidiary has received a notice from Greece’s Ministry of Productive Reconstruction Energy and Environment revoking the approval needed to complete final construction of the processing plant at the Skouries project. It said the notice indicates the decision could be reversed on completion of an internal review.

Mawson West (TSE:MWE) said it has completed its private placement financing with Galena Private Equity Resources Fund for total proceeds of C$21.6 million.

Paladin Energy (TSE:PDN) shares fell 1.3 percent to 38 Canadian cents after it said that a thickener failure at its Langer Heinrich mine will result in up to 100000 pounds of lost uranium production for this quarter bringing yet another supply disruption to the uranium space and hence a positive impact on prices.

Mitel Networks (TSE:MNW) stumbled 13.8 percent to C$10.95 after agreeing to buy telecommunications provider Mavenir Systems (NASDAQ:MITL) for about $560 million in cash and stock.

BlackBerry (TSE:BB) gained 3.2 percent to C$13.97 after it expanded its partnership with Samsung to include Samsung's integration of BlackBerry encryption and mobile-billing technologies into its Knox security platform. It also announced a cloud version of its mobile security software.

Moving to junior markets in Canada Ximen Mining (CVE:XIM) posted final assays from last year's autumn drill program highlighting its dicovery of two new high grade veins and bulk tonnage targets.

Eagle Hill Exploration (CVE:EAG) said its net loss for the 2014 fiscal year narrowed while the company also announced that its preliminary economic assessment for its flagship Windfall Lake gold project is slated for completion by the end of this month.
