Chimera Movie Launches IndieGoGo Campaign To Raise Production Funds

(MENAFNEditorial)
Chimera is a short psychological film about the inner mechanisms of addiction. Now the director and writer of this movie is raising funds for production and distribution through an IndieGoGo campaign.

Chimera is a short film that explores the psychology of addiction.  It shows the intrinsic mechanism behind the cycles created by dependency.  Director and writer Luca Tobia Forcignano Serri in collaboration with a psychoanalyst has researched the issues surrounding addiction and found that they appear more than diseases to affect the bonds of human connection.  According to Luca “Addictions begin with our misaligned feelings and ultimately create the impossibility to establish connection with others.”

The purpose of the film is to show the vicious cycle of addiction and alienation and how it affects individuals.  As viewers see the pain of unfulfilled anticipation and anxiety they may be inspired to imagine solutions for their own individual issues.  The movie is not meant to provide pat solutions to the addiction problem; instead the film encourages viewers to find their own solutions to addiction problems such as love motivation and learning to reconnect with feelings.

Chimera explores the reality of dependency and tries to answer the question of the causes. According to Luca “In my view addiction should be seen as a form of adaptation more than a disease. The street-addict is isolated alone with only one source of solace to turn to. Human beings instead have a deep need to bond and form connections. If we can’t connect with each other we will connect with anything we can find – the whirr of a roulette or the prick of a syringe.  That’s why we should stop talking about ‘addiction’ altogether and instead call it ‘bonding’.  A heroin addict has bonded with heroin because he couldn’t bond as fully with anything else.  So the opposite of addiction is not sobriety. It is human connection.”

The film will be shot using three different points of view: the main character’s subjective view; his expectation’s view; and his inner judge’s view. The film will feature only one cast member and will require a make-up artist assistant director script supervisor and other technical crew. Equipment such as a Canon c500 camera Zeiss CP .2 lens kit mini-jab crane and various lighting will also be required.

In order to raise funds for production and distribution of Chimera the director has launched an IndieGoGo campaign at http://igg.me/at/chimera/
