GM Korea sales drop 18 percent in February

(MENAFN) GM Korea Co. said its February sales plunged 18 percent from a year earlier, affected by weak demand both from home and abroad, Yonhap News reported.

The local unit of the US automaker giant General Motors Co. said it sold a total of 39,381 vehicles in February, down from 48,007 units sold in the same month of last year.

South Korea's third-largest carmaker's domestic sales declined 11 percent to 9,163 units, partly affected by fewer working days during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Meanwhile, overseas shipments also fell 19.9 percent to 30,218 vehicles. The decline is largely affected by the pullout of its Chevrolet-badge vehicles from Europe.
