Indian forces continue unprovoked firing across Working Boundary
(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Indian security forces on Saturday continued unprovoked firing and shelling across the Working Boundary in Harpal and Charwah sector of Sialkot, days after COAS General Raheel Sharif visited the area.
Pakistan responded to the unprovoked gunfire and shelling by Indian troops in a befitting manner, said a spokesman for the Chenab Rangers.
The Rangers spokesman said the Indian forces had started the cross-border firing and shelling on Friday night, targeting Pakistani villages located close to the Working Boundary and damaging houses and crops.
He said that Indian troops have been repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement for the past several months, to which Chenab Ranger s have been responding with full force.
The latest exchange of cross-border fire comes days after Army Chief General Raheel Sharif visited the Working Boundary in Sialkot and met troops as well as local residents.
During his visit on Thursday, the Army Chief said that repeated Indian cross border violations on the Working Boundary were meant to distract Pakistan from the war against terrorism.
He went on to say that there should be no doubt that any provocation along the Working Boundary "will be met with a befitting response".
