Volkswagen logs record sales, earnings in 2014

(MENAFN) Volkswagen said it posted record sales and earnings in 2014, but warned of this year's figures on emerging market weakness and currency fluctuations, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

Europe's largest automaker said its net profit surged 19.6 percent to USD12.2 billion last year, while its operating profit jumped 8.8 percent to USD14.2 billion and revenue soared 2.8 percent to USD226.6 billion.

VW delivered a total of 10.14 million vehicles to customers worldwide last year, up 4.2 percent. It said it expects deliveries to increase "moderately" in the whole of 2015 and depending on economic conditions.

"We can look back on the past fiscal year with satisfaction: despite the difficult economic environment, we achieve our goal for 2014," the automaker's chief executive said in a statement.
