Germany's inflation returns above zero in February

(MENAFN) Official data released showed that Germany's annual inflation escaped the red in February, registering a growth rate slightly above the zero, Xinhua reported.

Consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent last month over the same period a year earlier, German federal statistical office Destatis preliminary released data showed.

The annual inflation rate measured by consumer price index (CPI) declined below the zero for the first time in January since September 2009 and stood at -0.4 percent.

Downward pressure on prices development is mainly attributed to energy products, which slump by 7.3 percent over a year ago, following a slight rebound from the previous month.
