KARAWANG February 27 2015 – The facilities for coal gasification –coal to gas transformation process—owned by PT IHI Gasifikasi Indonesia located in PT Pupuk Kujang industrial estate is targeted to have a commercial stage in 2017.
Manager of Power Project No.2 for IHI Corporation Group (IHI Gasifikasi Indonesia holding company) Daizo Takanayagi said the full capacity was expected to be reached in 2017 with a total of 3000 tons per day which could produce 1000 tons of ammonia per day.
"Before the deadline we still have to do some testing in order to have a reliable technology that can be commercialized" he said Thursday (2/26/2015).
He said the testing requires 4000 hours of engine operation. Only it does not mean the machine is turned on for 24 hours straight but is shut down regularly.
In addition it targeted there were parties who were ready to apply these technologies in this year or next year.
PT Pupuk Indonesia President Director Arifin Tasrif said the company hoped that the reliability test run smoothly so that it could generate economic value.
Because when it reached the commercial stage the company would implement the machines in all subsidiaries of PT Pupuk Indonesia.
"Based on our estimates gas from coal will be much cheaper than the price of natural gas so that the company can improve efficiency" he said.
He compared the price of natural gas purchased by the company was approximately US$6 per million metric British thermal units (MMBtu) to US$9.5 per MMBtu.
