Newmonts Shares Divestment To Be Taken By The Indonesias Government

JAKARTA February 26 2015— Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource asserted that PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara’s shares divestment of about 7% will be absorbed by the central government.

Director General of Mineral and Coal R. Sukhyar said that it is included in the existing agreement.

He also mentioned there has been no discussion with state-owned mineral company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) about the demand of Sumbawa District Government to take the divestment by working together with state owned enterprise

“I guess there is no cooperation with Antam. There has been no discussion with Antam” he said Wednesday (2/25/2015).

The statement is confirmed by Corporate Secretary of Antam Tri Hartono.

Tri stated there had been no discussion between the company and the District Government of West Sumbawa about Newmont’s divestment. “There has been no discussion” he said.

Meanwhile the regent of West Sumbawa Zulkifli Muhadli said it was ready to work together with state owned company to buy the rest 7% shares of PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara. Read more...
