Apple to appeal USD533m patent violation award

(MENAFN) Apple said it would appeal a USD533 million award from a federal court in Texas, US in a patent violation lawsuit over flash memory technology used in its iTunes, AFP reported.

The announcement came after the US jury ordered the California-based tech giant to pay damages to Smartflash LLC, which calls itself a technology licensing and development company.

"Smartflash makes no products, has no employees, creates no jobs, has no US presence, and is exploiting our patent system to seek royalties for technology Apple invented," Apple said.
