Turkish Airlines net profit doubles in 2014


(MENAFN) Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines reported a double-digit growth in its net profit in 2014 and was targeting 15 percent growth in passenger capacity this year, AFP reported.

Turkish Airlines said in a statement that its full-year net profit for last year reached USD845 million, marking an increase of 137 percent form 2013's figure of USD357 million.

Total sales rose 12.6 percent to USD11 billion from USD9.8 billion a year ago. In 2014, the cargo registered passenger capacity growth of 16.3 percent, above expectations of a growth of 5.6 percent.

In 2014, the airline carrier a total of 54.7 million passengers, which signaled an increase of 13.3 percent and marked the second largest carrier in Europe according to passengers.
