Deals worth Dh2.5 billion signed on fourth day of Idex 2015


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The UAE Armed Forces have signed four deals valuing Dh2.534 billion to service its aircraft and install latest sensors on its fighter jets.

The biggest deal of the day went to Abu Dhabi's Advanced Military Maintenance Repairs and Overhaul Centre, or Ammroc, that clinched a mega deal valuing Dh2.3 billion.

The company will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the Joint Air Command or JAC of the UAE Armed Forces.

A spokesman for the UAE GHQ, Major-Gen. Dr Obaid Al Ketbi, briefing newsmen on Wednesday said that a total of four deals were signed valuing Dh2.534 billion.

A contract valuing Dh192 million was awarded to US firm ATK to purchase and install the Hostile Fire Induction sensors on the fighter jets.

Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investment, or Adasi, a Tawazun Holding company, was awarded a contract to provide spares for unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs. The contract value is worth Dh24 million.

Thales Advanced Solutions got a contract to provide spares and service the signals equipment, in a deal valuing Dh18 million.

The spokesman for the GHQ said the amount of deal announced this show have already exceeded with a margin when compared with Dh14 billion defence procurements announced at Idex 2013.

Replying to questions, Dr Al Ketbi said that interest of the international buyers in the defence products of the local companies, speaks volumes of their quality and is also a proof of the success of the military industry of the UAE.

"There are many international companies that have contacted UAE national companies especially those exhibiting their own defence products in the Idex.
