Qatar- EMRQ celebrates fifth anniversary


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) ExxonMobil Qatar celebrated the fifth anniversary of its research centre, ExxonMobil Research Qatar (EMRQ), recently by hosting a gala dinner under the patronage of Qatar Foundation Research and Development.

In attendance were H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry; Dr Ibrahim Ibrahim, Economic Advisor, the Emiri Diwan; Ahmed Al Sada, Assistant Under-secretary for Environmental Affairs, the Ministry of Environment; on behalf of Qatar Foundation Research and Development € the event's patron, Dr Thomas Zacharia, Executive Vice President of Research and Development; and educational representatives from Qatar University. The gala dinner was also attended by more than 250 of EMRQ's partners, key government officials and community leaders.

Sara Ortwein, President of ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company, and Alistair Routledge, President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Qatar, welcomed guests and highlighted EMRQ's achievements and its partnerships with Qatar Petroleum, the Ministry of Environment and Qatar University.

Announcing ExxonMobil's continued support for the partnership between EMRQ and Qatar, Ortwein said: "It is my pleasure this evening to confirm our continued commitment to this partnership between EMRQ and Qatar. The scientific integration among our researchers, and the exciting research they are conducting, will continue. Together, we have established a sound scientific research platform to address the challenges of sustainability. The future of Qatar is bright."

In his address, Routledge said: "EMRQ is one of our many achievements in Qatar € our gracious host country. Scientists and researchers at EMRQ have worked since 2009 to develop key technologies that enhance safety and environmental performance of the oil and gas industry in Qatar and around the world."
