Qatar- Ooredoo backs World Cancer Day

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Ooredoo will provide enhanced support to Qatar World Cancer Day 2015, being organised by Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) at Katara Corniche on Friday.

The event aims to raise awareness of the disease and provide family entertainment and opportunities for people to raise money for efforts to support research and cancer awareness.

Ooredoo's Alrabaa mascots will take part in the event, posing for pictures, meeting fans and giving a special performance.

Other highlights include a performance by Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi, a show by Police Sports Association, and a stand-up comedy routine.

The event will run from 4pm to 8pm.

Fatima Al Kuwari, Community and Public Relations Director, Ooredoo, said: "Ooredoo is proud to join hands with QCS and Katara in the battle against cancer. This is a disease that impacts families around the world, so we hope this event can raise awareness and contribute to Qatar's efforts to protect future generations."

A recent report by International Agency for Cancer Research says cancer cases in Qatar may rise by up to 218 percent by 2030.

Ooredoo has a history of supporting health CSR initiatives in Qatar, and began a five-year partnership with QCS to build Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre last year.

Ooredoo sponsors and supports events and programmes to promote healthy living, including building and operating Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Centre.

Working towards Qatar National Vision 2030, Ooredoo's main CSR goals are focused on health, education and fitness, working with the community to enrich people's lives and raise awareness on these issues.
