Jan Kubis of Slovakia is new UN envoy to Iraq


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appointed Jan Kubis of Slovakia to serve as the new United Nations envoy and head of the UN mission to Iraq, a spokesman for Ban said Tuesday.
According to dpa, Kubis will succeed Nickolay Mladenov of Bulgaria, who was appointed to serve as UN envoy on the Middle East this month.
The Slovakian diplomat has held several high-level positions in his country and at international organizations including foreign minister of Slovakia and the head of the UN mission to Afghanistan.
