Omani companies to pay USD854.25m dividend for 2014


(MENAFN) A huge dividend payout of around USD854.25 million by listed companies on the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) next month is predicted to stimulate the trading activity as almost 25-30 percent of the money is expected to come back to the local bourse as reinvestment, Times of Oman reported.

According to Muscat Securities Market (MSM), as many as 50 companies have already announced dividend. Market sources estimate total dividend so far at USD722.23 million, which is more or less the same dividend payment of the previous year. Around 25 companies are yet to announce their dividend proposal. As many as 130 companies are listed on the MSM.

The total estimated dividend payment for 2014 could reach USD957.80 million, if interim dividend paid earlier by some of the companies are also taken into consideration.
