Germany's economy achieves USD20.4b surplus in 2014


(MENAFN) The combined budgets of the German government, regional states, municipal authorities, and welfare system indicated a surplus of USD20.4 billion, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The surplus represented 0.6 percent of the country's overall gross domestic product (GDP) of USD3.29 trillion. In 2013, Germany achieved a balanced budget in its public finances.

The 2014 surplus resulted from the difference between revenues of USD1.46 trillion and expenditure of USD1.44 trillion.

The government budget alone showed a surplus of USD12.9 billion, compared with a deficit of USD5.1 billion in 2013

The regional states' finances also presented a surplus of USD2.15 billion in 2014 from a deficit of USD3.17 billion in 2013.
