Dubai Canvas Festival aims to promote values of beauty and innovation


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Dubai Canvas Festival will begin in Dubai on March 1; an event organised by Brand Dubai, a subsidiary of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO). Dubai Canvas is a new addition that contributes far greater value to Dubai's vibrant cultural agenda aiming to support Dubai's efforts to introduce creativity and innovation to the emirate's residents and visitors.

In each session, Dubai Canvas Festival focuses on a different form of art. This year's session spotlights on 3D art and will exhibit in The Beach, opposite Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) from March 1 to 7.

Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, Mona Al Marri, stated that organising Dubai Canvas Festival is in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to convert Dubai into an open museum as he is keen to promote values of beauty and innovation in the emirate.

Al Marri said: "The actual value of originality is subject to public's appreciation. Through Brand Dubai, we are trying to introduce different forms of art to people. We believe innovation is one of Dubai's genuine values and has always been integral part of Dubai's achievements. We are dedicated to translate these values into reality and endorse UAE's position as home for creativity, innovation and happiness."

DGMO's Director-General affirmed Brand Dubai's devotion to find new channels, opportunities and strategic partnerships to promote values beauty and creativity as a key element for development. Al Marri concluded that Dubai Canvas Festival provides a new cultural bridge for international artists and creates ideal opportunity for Emirati artists to shadow their skills.

Dubai Canvas Festival attracts international artists including the American Kurt Wenner, the inventor of 3D Art; the German Peter Westerink, founder and director of Planet Streetpainting; the Mexican Juandres Vera, the Italian Anthony Cappetto, the American Julie Kirk Purcell and other globally recognised artists.

Kurt Wenner will give a lecture and specialised workshops and art shows, in addition to two kids' art display areas. By the end of the event, Brand Dubai will distribute the artworks around Dubai to increase exposure.
