Kuwait- Acting Parliament Speaker meets IOM delegation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Acting National Assembly Ahmad Lari met Monday with a visiting delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), headed by Deputy Director-General Ambassador Laura Thompson.

During the meeting, Lari expressed his gratitude to the IOM for honoring His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in 2012 and granting him the organization's humanitarian medal in appreciation to his humanitarian role and support.

The Acting Parliament Speaker also commended IOM's notable and significant efforts in crisis-stricken countries that require humanitarian support and solidarity.

Meanwhile, the visiting delegation presented Lari with the first edition of "International Partnership for Humanity Relief: IOM and Kuwait; January 2015" book, which is the organization's first issue on a specified country as an appreciation to Kuwait's role in backing-up IOM's efforts in solving migration issues at conflict-stricken cities around the world.

The delegation also provided the Kuwaiti parliamentarian with a detailed report on donations that have been given to migrants and displaced from several countries, particularly Syria and Iraq.

The meeting was attended by MP Dr. Abdulhameed Dashti.
