(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Monday reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's firm support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and to achieve just and lasting peace for them.

The remark was made by the Saudi king during talks with visiting Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Saudi king urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and ensure the protection of the Palestinian people from the repeated Israeli attacks, it said.

During the meeting, they reviewed the current situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, the SPA added.
