US court finds Palestinian Authority, PLO liable for terrorist attacks

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Both the Palestinan Authority and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) have been found legally responsible by a New York court for supporting six terrorist attacks in Israel of which Americans were killed and injured.

The Federal District Court in Manhattan had originally demanded both pay USD218.5 million in damages, before tripling the sum to USD655.5 million since the penalties fall under the US anti-terrorism law, The New York Times said on Monday.

"The verdict ended a decade-long legal battle to hold the Palestinian organizations responsible for the terrorist acts," it noted.

The series of attacks, which occurred in Israel back in the 2000s, resulted in the killing and injury of Americans, added the report.
