Jordan, Kuwait enjoy excellent ties, says official

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Issa Haider Murad, Monday highlighted Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah's visit to the Kingdom saying it plays a significant role in the consolidation of bilateral economic and trade relations.

In a statement to Petra, Murad stated that Kuwaiti investments in the Kingdom, which exceed $12 billion, are one of the most important Arab and foreign projects that add high value to the country's economic sector.

Murad called for a further boosting of joint investment projects and co-partnerships between businessmen of the two countries to contribute to the development of economic and trade relations and increase the volume of trade, which is still below expected levels.

The chairman also stressed the need to activate signed economic agreements between the two countries in the private sector, and to address any obstacles that hinder development of trade relations to meet the aspirations of the political leadership of both countries.

Murad explained that a number of meetings were held with the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan Hamad Al Duaij and representatives of Kuwaiti investors in the Kingdom to continue support and meet the challenges through coordination with state panels.

Jordan's exports to Kuwait stood at JD114 million during the past 11 months, while imports stood at JD97 million, Murad stated.
