Ooredoo named official sponsors of Qatar Total Open


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Continuing its tradition of support all kinds of sport in Qatar, Ooredoo has been named the official sponsors of the 2015 Qatar Total Open, beginning today.

Tennis is fast becoming one of the most popular sports in Qatar, with competitions like the Qatar Total Open and Exxonmobile Open appealing to the local and expat population alike.

The 2015 Qatar Total Open will host 32 players in the singles competition and 16 doubles teams over six days. The tournament features five players ranked among the top 10 and 14 in the top 20, as well as four current or former Grand Slam winners.

Saad al-Mohannadi, Qatar Total Open tournament director, said: "The QTF is very pleased with the players entered for the Qatar Total Open. It is a quality field."

Speaking about the sponsorship, Mustafa al-Qatami, director, Branding and Corporate Communications, said: "Supporting sport-and especially sports for women-is a major initiative for Ooredoo. We believe in championing women and we are pleased to be able to give the young women of Qatar the opportunity to watch and be inspired by some of the most talented tennis players in the world."

As part of the agreement, Ooredoo will provide the telecommunication infrastructure at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex to ensure media companies from around the world can seamlessly report on the event, and visitors can enjoy access to 3G and 4G services on Ooredoo's bigger and faster network.
