(MENAFN) The total volume of fishing catch recorded 209,071 tons by the end of 2014, an increase of 1.9 per cent over 2013, Oman Observer reported.
Total fish production from vocational fishing increased by 0.9 percent hitting 205,376 tons at the end of 2014 compared with 203,454 tons in 2013.
Total revenues from vocational fishing increased by 11.1 percent and reached USD463.45 million at the end of 2014 up from USD418.42 million in 2013.
Total production from coastal fishing rose by 126 per cent at 3,154 tons up from just 1,394 tons recorded a year earlier.
Commercial fishing grew by 35.8 per cent recording a total of 541 tons up from 398 tons in 2013.
