The 2015 Audi R8 Details Announced

(MENAFNEditorial)

19 February 2015: Audi is preparing to launch the R8 supercar and has just revealed information about its engine as well as some official images of this Porsche 911 competitor.

It is almost eight years since the original Audi R8 was launched but this year a replacement is making its debut during the Geneva Motor Show. And Audi has just confirmed several interesting pieces of information about it along with revealing pictures of its stylish new exterior.

The 2015 Audi R8 will be powered by both V8 and V10 engines depending on the model chosen. But unlike the previous generation these units will be made much more efficient thanks to the presence of stop-start technology.

This will mean that although quick the R8 will also be a little bit more frugal when it comes to fuel consumption getting through around a tenth less petrol than its predecessors.

Although at first the V8 and V10 iterations of the R8 will be the only ones available a plug-in hybrid model with an electric engine on board as well as a standard power plant will be launching a little further down the line to help improve its green credentials even further.

Weight will be cut thanks to the use of carbon fibre in the body and roof. Even the chassis is going to be built with about a quarter of the material being this lightweight alternative to metal while things such as ceramic brakes will allow Audi to make sure the new R8 does not tip the scales at more than 1500kg.

Buying the new R8 at the full retail price will require at least around £100000 when it goes on sale in the UK in 2016. But buying an Audi second-hand even if it is an R8 will be a much more affordable prospect for most motorists in the UK and there are many good used models available at Culloden Car Sales.
