19 February 2015: British buyers can expect to pay just under £40K for the new Audi RS3 Sportback when it goes on sale later this year.
Audi has risen through the ranks in recent years to become one of the most popular prestige marques in the motoring world. And part of its success has to be attributed to its powerful models which whether new or used can bring a lot of excitement to otherwise dull drives.
This summer the Audi RS3 Sportback is arriving in a brand new iteration complete with a 2.5 litre engine that develops 362bhp. It will be able to launch the driver from 0 to 62mph in only 4.3 seconds.
The top speed is fixed at 155mph as a result of an artificial limiter. But buyers will be able to specify that this is deactivated as long as it is legal to do so. With this out of the way the true performance of the RS3 Sportback is unleashed allowing it to hit 174mph flat out.
Using the Quattro 4WD system this new car will also be able to deliver the power effectively through all of its wheels while long journeys should be a breeze thanks to the seven speed gearbox with tiptronic shifting.
One of the reasons to get excited about the RS3 Sportback is that its power does not come with unnecessarily speedy fuel consumption. It will be able to do a combined 34.8mpg making it a modestly frugal family hatch-back which just happens to be quicker than many sports cars.
With a base price tag of £39950 the RS3 Sportback will not be cheap even by Audi's standards. But there are plenty of affordable second hand Audis to tide over buyers who are waiting for depreciation to kick in for this new model.
