Eurozone's construction output down 0.8 percent in December


(MENAFN) The European Union's statistics office (Eurostat) said that eurozone production in the construction sector fell by 0.8 percent in December 2014 over a month ago, Xinhua reported.

The figure fell by 3.5 percent over a year. Meanwhile, in the 28-member EU, production in construction sector decreased by 0.5 percent in December compared to November, and up by 0.5 percent compared to a year ago.

However, average production in construction for the year 2014 compared with 2013 increased by 2.0 percent in the eurozone and by 3.0 percent in the EU, the Eurostat data showed.

Among EU member states, the largest decreases in output were seen in Slovakia at 9.8 percent and the Czech Republic at 7.8 percent, while the greatest increase was in Romania at 15 percent.
