Man-eater that claimed two lives shot dead


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) A tiger, which had been identified as a man eater, was shot dead at Kerala-Tamil Nadu border in Wayanad district on Wednesday.

Last week, two persons had lost their lives in the tiger attack in two villages near Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. Due to public protest, the Kerala government had ordered for killing of the tiger.

Subsequently, the Forest and Wildlife Departments of Kerala and Tamil Nadu launched a joint mission to hunt down the "man eater."

According to officials, the tiger was shot by officials of the Tamil Nadu forest.
