Blizzard expected to hit Kingdom over weekend

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The Kingdom will be affected by a cold air mass accompanied by a depression, centered over Cyprus, sending temperatures down and bringing rainfall along with occasional thunder and hail in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), snowfall is also expected at night over the hilly areas.

The blizzard will tighten its grip on the Kingdom on Thursday and Friday, sending temperatures close to freezing point, with rain, hail, and snow falling in most parts of the Kingdom. The snowfall is expected to cover areas 600 meters above sea level, with gusty winds.

The JMD has warned of low visibility caused by low-altitude clouds and dust in the Badia as well as slippery roads due to snow accumulation.

Maximum temperatures expected in Amman today will reach a high of 12 degrees Celsius, dropping to 4 degrees Celsius at night.
