(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Janoub Nibras produced one of the easiest wins ever at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club where the Pier Convertino-ridden entry emerged victorious in the Wathnan Cup.
Janoub Nibras, trained by B Al Abid, produced a slick run in the 1900m feature race, winning with a margin of seven lengths.
Elkhart, ridden by Gerald Avranche, finished a distant second while Zakon, who had Yanis Aouabed in the saddle, ended the race in third spot.
Owned by Al Jasra Stud, Janoub Nibras clocked a time of 2:09.96. It was five-year-old Janoub Nibras' first win in almost a year.
Earlier in race seven, British jockey Harry Bentley combined with trainer Jassim Al Ghazali to ride Thawi to victory ahead of Meghwaar and Saint De Faust.
Thawai finished the 1800m race with a time of 2:02.86.
In race six, Thameen topped the 1200m race ahead of Lupie and Nothern Water ridden by Convertino.
Thameen, trained by Nasser Al Kaabi, was ridden by Almotasem Al Balushi. Lupie had Bentley in the saddle.
In race five, Avranche guided Disco Inferno to win ahead of Rebelde who had Marco Monteriso in the saddle, and Freckenham who was ridden by Al Balushi.
In race four, Mowhoubat Al Zaidy battled hard for the win in the 1800m race, finishing ahead of West De Faust and ras Al Qimmah.
In race three, T. O'Shea scored the turf as he guided Al Koufa to win ahead of Vit'Al Fauquey and Bentley-ridden Intizaa.
Minutes earlier Bentley won race two with Dheram Al Naif. Bentley finished the 1200m race ahead of Falot Del Falot (Avranche) and Djuliet who had S Golam in the saddle.
The day's proceedings were kicked off by Marvin Suerland who guided Khrash Al Naif to win in the first race. Khrash Al Naif finished the 1800m race ahead of Madhloun and Barq Al Uraiq who had Alberto Sanna in the saddle.
