Plea dismissed to seize assets of three players
(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday dismissed as inadmissible a petition seeking seizure of assets of disgraced cricketers Salman Butt, Mohammed Asif and Mohammed Aamir.
The trio was banned on February 5, 2011 by an anti-corruption tribunal of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for spot-fixing.
The petitioner, Mushtaq advocate said that all three cricketers had built assets with illegal earnings which should be confiscated.
"All three players are young and have already been punished," the court observed adding: "By continuously punishing them, we will only hurt the national team."
The ICC in January this year allowed Aamir to return to domestic cricket following his cooperation with anti-corruption officials.
