Iranian Pres. slams murder of 21 Egyptian Copts

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iranian President Hassan Rohani strongly condemned on Tuesday the beheading of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians by Libyan ISIL militants two days ago.

This is a barbaric and inhumane action than runs counter to the values of Islam, the state-run IRNA news agency quoted President Rohani as saying.

He reaffirmed Iran's categorical rejection of forms of savagery and terrorism, noting that the recent terrorist attacks in the region sent shockwaves through the world.

He regretted that such horrible acts are being carried out under the name of Islam while they have nothing to do with Islam and Muslims.

On Sunday the ISIL released a video showing the beheading of 21 Copts which prompted Egypt to launch an airstrike on suspected ISIL targets inside Libya several hours later.
