Qatar- QF, QCS mark World Cancer Day


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Cancer Society (QCS)marked World Cancer Day, with Qatar Foundation (QF) under the theme 'Not beyond us' to raise awareness about cancer and disseminate information in view of the increasing number of deaths from the disease every year.

Rodha Al Saadi, Acting Manager, Community Services Department, QF, said, "Today is another memorable day as we continue to celebrate efforts to fight and prevent cancer.

"I am happy to acknowledge the presence of QCS management and staff and their efforts to increase awareness about cancer and its impact on society."

The event was part of efforts of Community Services, QF, to provide activities to help improve the health of QF members and the community.

"We would like to make this a day to reflect on the journeys each one has undertaken, share experiences with members of the community, educate people, raise awareness about the disease and push the community to take action to prevent it," said Al Saadi.

Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director, Public Relations, QCS, said, "The event aims to achieve objectives such as raising awareness about the disease and spread the culture of a healthy lifestyle to prevent it.

"It also aims to activate the community's role in providing support to cancer patients financially and morally and develop capacity of different age groups to acquire skills to deal with the disease.

"The event aims to highlight health services related to the disease available in Qatar and encourage early detection of cancer and treatment of the disease."
