January 12 2015 Key West FL-There is more to eat and drink in Key West Florida than just conch fritters and margaritas. In case people don’t know that the 6th Annual Key West Food and Wine Festival makes its return. Held this year from January 27th through February 1st this culinary and viniculture celebration features over 30 events spread out across the historic Old Town neighborhood of Key West. A special feature this year is a focus on the award-winning Santa Barbara wineries including wine pairing dinners talks with some of the wine makers and even a film series to be screened at the Tropic Cinema.

“The festival attracts over 3500 people from 38 states” said Mark Certonio Director of the Key West Food and Wine Festival. “It’s simply a great time for people to come down and enjoy the tropical weather.” Certonio went on to add that many of the Key West restaurants including such iconic locations as the Roof Top Café use this opportunity to introduce new menu items and present an updated wine menu for their guests as well.

One of the most popular attractions to last year’s festival was a presentation by winemakers from vineyards in the Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez regions of California so organizers decided to strengthen their focus on that for this year’s events. One of the highlights of the six day celebration is a two day Central Coast Wine & Food Experience that includes a Santa Barbara County winemaker’s brunch a sunset wine tasting a seminar on the microclimates of Santa Barbara County and even a contest pairing wines and cheeseburgers.

Those are just of the many events that oenophiles who come to Key West Florida for this annual extravaganza will be able to attend. Certonio advises that if something strikes a person’s interest they shouldn’t hesitate to make reservations. “Some of our events are already sold out and many others are reaching that point. This is certainly not something you want to wait until the last minute before you make your decision.” The Key West Food and Wine Festival is just another of the growing reasons why Key West is quickly becoming the number one choice for people looking to book a tropical island destination vacation.
