UK's IHG profits grow thanks to strong US demand

(MENAFN) InterContinental Hotels Group, one of the world's largest hoteliers, registered a 10 percent growth in 2014 profit, supported by strong improvement in its biggest market, the United States, Gulf News reported.

The group, which owns brands such as Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and InterContinental, said that underlying annual operating profit grew to USD648 million at constant currency rates, on revenue up 6 percent to USD1.67 billion.

IHG, which expanded its full-year dividend 10 percent to 77.0 cents, had been expected by some analysts to signal another share buyback, funded by the USD376.10 million sale of its Le Grand InterContinental in Paris.
