Oman considers loans for USD3.6b petrochemical project


(MENAFN) Oman is considering funding opportunities from banks and export credit agencies for financing a USD3.6 billion petrochemical project, said Oman Oil Refineries and Petrochemical Industries (Orpic), The National reported.

Orpic is currently building a 1.1 million ton per year petrochemical plant. The government can make a contribution of USD600 million to USD1 billion in funding, the general manager of Liwa Plastics, an Orpic project, said in a statement.

The plant, which will be ready for operation in the fourth quarter of 2018, will enhance Orpic's petrochemical output to 1.4 million tons per year. 'We are still talking to banks, we have engaged with export credit agencies,' general manager added
