OIC condemns killing of Egyptians by ISIL in Libya

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani on Monday condemned the killing of 21 Egyptians by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Libya on Sunday evening.

Madani described in a press statement the incident as a "barbaric act" that reflects the brutality of the ISIL.

He offered heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Egypt and the families of the victims.

However, the OIC chief called on all Libyan rivals to find a peaceful solution to the volatile situation in their country in order to avoid Libyan turning into a hotbed for terrorism and extremism, thus jeopardizing national and regional security and stability.

The ISIL released a video in which 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians appeared to have been "executed".
