Kuwait- Cabinet condemns brutal killing of Egyptians in Libya


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The cabinet strongly condemned Monday the brutal and inhuman killing of 21 Egyptian Christians in Libya by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

The cabinet expressed condolences and sympathy with relatives of the victims and the Egyptian leadership and people, said Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah in a press statement following the cabinet's weekly meeting which was held under the chairmanship of High Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at Seif Palace.

The cabinet also reiterated that Kuwait's firm stance against terrorism and all its manifestations. It said that Kuwait stands beside Egypt in its fight against terrorism. It also voiced full confidence in Egypt's ability to overcome such a challenge.

Earlier, the Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of State for Planning and Development Hend Al-Sabeeh briefed the cabinet about the content of the semi-annual follow up report on the development an of 2014/2015. The cabinet asked the minister to refer the report to the National Assembly.

Minister of Electricity and Water Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim made a presentation about the electricity outage that hit many parts of Kuwait recently and the Ministry's measures to deal with the emergency as well as the preparation to avoid reoccurrences.

At the onset of the weekly meeting, the cabinet reviewed the outcomes of the recent visit by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Saudi Arabia, where he met with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on various issues and inter-GCC cooperation as well as the latest regional and international developments.

The cabinet was then apprised of a recent letter sent to His Highness the Amir by Albanian President Bujar Nishani, inviting His Highness the Amir to visit Albania.

The ministers also reviewed two recent letters sent to His Highness the Prime Minister from the primes ministers of Mongolia and Albania, inviting him to visit their countries.

Afterwards, the cabinet listened to a briefing by First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on the outcomes of a recent visit to Kuwait by Sudanese Foreign Minister Ahmed Karti, where closer cooperation and coordination in various fields were discussed by both sides.

The ministers were further kept posted on the findings of a recent visit to Kuwait by Cambodian Deputy Prime and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong, where both sides mulled ways and means of promoting and bolstering bilateral cooperation in various realms.

Moreover, the cabinet welcomed a planned visit to Kuwait by Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Al-Hamadallah, wishing him and his party a pleasant stay here.

The ministers also discussed the issues on the agenda of the National Assembly and the latest developments on the Arab and international arenas.
