Japan's FM condemns killings of Egyptians in Libya


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday condemned the purported beheadings of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians in Libya by a group claiming links to the Islamic State.

"The Japanese government is immensely outraged by this vicious terrorism act and resolutely condemns it," Kishia said in a statement. "Japan expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims," said Kishida, adding that Japan will continue to engage in combating terrorism in cooperation with the international community including Egypt and Libya.

On Sunday, a video was uploaded online purporting to show that 21 Egyptian Copts were murdered by a terrorist group in Libya which declares its loyalty to the Islamic State.
