Jordan, Spain discuss political and parliamentary cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Khaled Al Kalaldeh, on Monday, stressed the importance of the ministry's role in strengthening the integrative relationship between the executive and legislative authorities.

During a meeting with a Spanish delegation, Al Kalaldeh said that the ministry is the link between the two authorities, the government and legislative authority, coordinates between them and overcomes any difficulties.

It also seeks to strengthen the legislative and executive authorities' independence so that each could exercise its constitutional functions by building a balanced relationship between them, the minister added.

He noted that the ministry carries out big tasks in terms of boosting the democratic process, broadening the participation in the political life and deepening the dialogue with political parties and civil society organizations for the development of Jordan's political life.

Al Kalaldeh briefed the delegation on the constitutional and political reforms in Jordan since 2011, through legal framework governing the political life, such as the Independent Election Commission, the Decentralization and Municipalities Laws and the Political Parties Law, which is under review before the legal and freedoms joint committee in the Lower House.

He pointed out that the government is set to deliver the electoral law as soon as possible.

The Spanish delegation spoke about ways of cooperation between Jordan and Spain in political and parliamentary areas and exchange of expertise in the interest of both countries.
