10 Killed in Clashes in Southern Philippines


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Four soldiers and six rebels were killed in a clashes in the southern Philippines since the weekend, the military said Monday.
Five guerrillas were killed in combat with troops in Sarangani province, 1,060 kilometers south of Manila, on Monday, dpa quoted army spokesman First Lieutenant Vergel Lacambra as saying.
Another rebel was killed in a clash at a police station in Davao Oriental province on Sunday evening, the military said. Three soldiers were killed when troops sent to reinforce the police were hit by a landmine, it said. Four soldiers were wounded.
One soldier was killed at a checkpoint set up by the rebels to stop reinforcements.
