British Gas owner Centrica profits to slump by third

(MENAFN) British Gas owner Centrica is projected to announce profit slump by around a third, as competition authorities reignite controversy if energy suppliers are ripping off loyal customers, The Telegraph reported.

Centrica announced that its operating profits are expected to drop by 29 percent to USD2.9 billion after a woeful year in which every division of the business suffered problems.

Profits in the British Gas household supply arm are likely to fall 27 percent to USD638.54 million due to mild weather, while this equates to USD61.54 per household post-tax.
