Abdullah bin Zayed: UAE condemns "ugly crime" of Da'esh in Libya

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The UAE Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, today expressed the UAE's strong condemnation of the "ugly crime" perpetrated by the terrorist organisation Da'esh against 21 Egyptian citizens in Libya.

"The United Arab Emirates is devoting all its resources to support the efforts of Egypt to eradicate terrorism and the violence directed against its citizens and reaffirms its total support for Egypt," Sheikh Abdullah said.

In a statement issued this morning, the UAE Foreign Minister said that "This ugly crime highlights the necessity of supporting the legitimate Government of Libya in its efforts to extend its sovereign authority over all of Libya's territory." "It also underlines the necessity for the Arab and international community to stand by the legitimate Government and the Libyan people, under the leadership of the elected Libyan Parliament and the Government it has formed." Sheikh Abdullah emphasised that "The stability of Libya and its freeing from terrorism and extremism is an absolute necessity for the Arab and international community that is also essential for the strengthening of the security of the neighbouring countries." "These terrorist organisations and their barbaric crimes have no relationship whatsoever with any religion," he added. "These crimes come from sick minds that seek to spread chaos throughout the world, through the killing of innocent people for no reason." "It is essential," he stressed, "that these criminals should receive the punishment that they deserve, without hesitation, and implemented with the utmost strength and determination." The UAE Foreign Minister concluded his statement by extending, in the name of the UAE Government and people, his condolences to the Egyptian leadership and people and to the families of the victims.
