Eurozone economic activity edges up in Q4

(MENAFN) Official EU data showed that economic activity in the euro zone picked up slightly in fourth quarter, in a sign that the benefits of cheap oil are taking effect, Arab News reported.

The official Eurostat agency said euro zone economy expanded by 0.3 percent in the quarter and 0.9 for all of 2014, slightly better than expected but too weak to convincingly signal a full-blown recovery.

"Such an increase, while modest by international standards, would be the sharpest since the first quarter of 2011," senior European economist at Capital Economist said in a statement.
