(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The Dar Al Ber Society, DABS, with the help of philanthropists, is to arrange a free Umrah land trip for 87 low-income people already shortlisted for the religious tour.
The second edition of the scheme, themed: 'Lifetime Umrah', is to be run by the Zakat and Seasonal Projects Department at the Society in collaboration with the 'Heavens Gates' live radio programme being broadcast every Friday by Noor Dubai Radio.
Only those who have not performed Haj or Umrah are eligible for the totally free religious tour, which 214 people € 80 in the first batch and 134 in the second, including workers, took part in last year under the same charity project.
Imran Mohammed Abdullah, Board Member and Head of Culture and Studies Sector, DABS, said a number of lectures were held to develop participants' awareness about Umrah, particularly new Muslims.
"These were delivered in Arabic by Hisham Al Zahrani, Head of the Zakat and Seasonal Projects Department, DABS, and in Indian and Urdu by Reda Al Hassan, a staff preacher at the Activities and Events Department." The attendees were enlightened how to properly perform Umrah, and were educated about the benefits, values, and lessons, as well as a presentation on the itinerary of the religious trip, he added.
Paying a tribute to philanthropists, Imran advised the participants to show love, respect and cooperation to each other, and be faithful to Almighty Allah while heading to the Holy lands in Makkah and Medina.
Al Zahrani said the Dar Al Ber Society spares no effort to bring happiness to poor people and help them enjoy such a well-organised trip.
The 35-year-old charity association, run by Dubai Government, is to run more free Umrah trips for poor and low-income people and provide them with all facilities needed for the spiritual trip.
