Three held for selling 'cheaper' phone credit in Sharjah

Date:

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police have arrested three Bangladeshis in connection with selling illegal phone call credit at a discounted price to passersby on different Sharjah streets. The police suspect that the three accused may be part of bigger gangs that target unsuspecting residents, who transfer phone credit believing they have won prizes from their telecommunication service provider.

Col Jihad bin Sahoh, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Sharjah Police, said patrolling has been intensified on Sharjah streets to put an end to this criminal practice, which "affects the security and stability in the emirate".

He urged the public to report those indulging in the practice by calling 800151 or 06-2632222 or by sending an email to najeed@shjpolice.gov.ae.
