Charity gives street dogs their Valentine's Day

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) An animal welfare group in Nepal set up a booth on Valentine's Day in Kathmandu where pet lovers can give rescued dogs much-needed affection.

The event organised by Animal Nepal, which runs an adoption centre for dogs, also includes catwalks for their 32 pooches dressed in special attire for the occasion.

Visitors also took photos with the dogs in the kissing booths.

"Valentine's is a day of love and generosity, and who better to share it with than with a rescued shelter dog?" said Chadani Lama of Animal Nepal.

The group promotes the adoption of mixed breed dogs and provides medical care to street dogs, including vaccination and sterilisation.

Kathmandu is home to more than 22,500 street dogs, who live in deplorable conditions.

Their numbers are multiplying as the government has no clear plan on their management.
