Spain suspends operation of its embassy in Yemen

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Spain announced Saturday suspending the operation of its embassy in Sanaa and pulling out all staff members due to the worsening security situation in the Yemeni capital.

In a press statement, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said that, given the current situation of insecurity and instability in Sanaa, it has decided to temporarily suspend the operations of the Embassy of Spain to the Republic of Yemen.

It added that the embassy has been in direct contact with nationals living in Yemen and informed them of this decision and advised them to temporarily leave the country.

It expressed hopes the causes that forced it to take this decision would be resolved soon, so the embassy can resume its operation normally.
