U.S. calls Copenhagen shooting "deplorable"
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The United States has condemned the Copenhagen shootings that targeted a free speech event, as well as local police officers, as Denmark continues a manhunt for the suspect.
"The United States condemns today's deplorable shooting in Copenhagen," National Security Council (NSC) Spokesperson Bernadette Meehan said in a statement late on Saturday. "We offer our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased victim, and our thoughts are with those wounded in this attack," she continued. "We have been in close contact with our Danish counterparts and stand ready to lend any assistance necessary to the investigation," she said.
Two people have been killed and five injured in twin shootings in the Danish capital, with one attack targeting a cultural center hosting a debate on Islam and free speech.
