MANIPULATED DATA The Fines Can Reach Trillions Of Rupiah

JAKARTA February 13 2015— Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti wants those vessel which loading capacity data is manipulated  to pay the fine worth as much as that non-tax state revenue (PNBP) which loss due to the manipulation practice.

They have to pay the PNBP shortfall. It’s IDR1 million per gross tonnage. It can be trillions total of the fine” she said Thursday (2/12/2015).

According to her the country has loss a number of non-tax revenue from the fisheries and maritime sector due to the vessel data manipulation.

Susi suspects that the fraud as a reason to the low non tax state revenue by the ministry last year which was just IDR268 billion.

In fact the non-tax state revenue from the ministry is potentially to reach IDR1.4 trillion this year if the perpetrators can be identified.

He added that the fraud about the vessel capacity data has been detrimental to the country. Moreover it reaches hundreds of gross tonnage.

That vessel with capacity of more than 30GT such as that with 150 GT-180 GT usually manipulate the data by stated that the capacity is under 30GT. 50 GT of capacity manipulation can be imposed by IDR50 million-worth fine.

Susi said the mark down was done so that the ship can get the license to use the trawl. Read more...
